Hello Texas

Fall Break 2015

Gracie and I decided to take a girls trip to Austin, TX.  We got on the road early Friday morning and headed out.  Snacks in tow, music was loud, and traffic was our friend that day.   We only had four stops during the five hour drive, but we made it safe and sound.  Our friends, Adam and Angela, along with their twins, Baylee and Savanna live down there.

We went out for a girl's night dinner and went to a store called Five Below.  Everything in the store was $5.00 or below.  They had lots of stuff in there, and we bought lots of stuff.  Saturday morning, we went and watched Baylee score a touchdown in football, then went downtown Austin and walked around.  It was so much fun!

They fed us dinner that night, had a great night just hanging on the patio.  Then a great huge breakfast the next morning before we headed out.  Of course, we had to hit up HEB for coffee before we headed home, love their coffee.

Buttering me up

My friend invited me over for lunch today, she said I will cook.  Which is awesome, because she is a great cook!  But she was trying to butter me up for sure!!  She wanted me to create her a blog.  You see, her family is packing up and heading out to West Texas, and falling off the face of this earth :)  I kid, I kid.  So, anyway, she needs a way to update all of her friends and family back here in the GREAT state of Oklahoma on her daily trials and tribulations with her twinadoes!!

She said, I will make something from Pioneer Woman’s cookbook, which got me all excited, because everything in that cookbook, is awesome!!  So she made this:

Buttered Rosemary Rolls

AND THIS

Pasta Al la Betsy

Both were awesome!!  Not only that, she sent me home with the entire tub of leftovers!!  BONUS!!  No cooking for me tonight!!

If you want to read about her twinadoes, go here.  If she hasn’t posted anything yet, come back here and tell me, because I will hound her until she does!!

I am a little late…

The RHOK
I am a little late on posting this, but I just couldn’t do it yesterday.  April 19.  What does this day mean to you?  Well, when it happened I was a sophomore in high school.  I had just transferred to Bray from Duncan.  We will leave out why I transferred, but let’s just say it was for the better.  I remember the event very well, but I don’t remember if I was glued to the TV all the time or not.  Probably not, I didn’t know anyone in the building, nor did I know anyone that had relatives in the building.  So, my life pretty much went on as it always did.  Although I do remember, seeing one particular image that brought tears to my eyes and still does to this day.  I can’t imagine anyone wanting to hurt another human being let alone hurt children.  Anyway, fast forward 7 years.  I moved to Oklahoma City and went to work for Federal Employees Credit Union, which in 1995 was housed in the Murrah Building and lost 18 employees.  There was a handful of employees that were actually in the building when the bomb went off that survived and were still working at FECU.  I had the pleasure of meeting these people and becoming great friends with them.  I said a little prayer for them yesterday and they were on my mind most of the day.  To listen to a few of their stories, click here:  http://www.allegiancecu.org/about-us/history-flash-video.html
